Change is the only constant. Most people tend to make life changing decision on New Year’s Eve so that when the New Year comes you are a new person. Sadly the resolutions only last so long. Social media is already filled with the ‘New Year new me’ memes to show how skeptical people already are. I don’t have supernatural powers but I am sure if you do the following, your year will be a good one!
• Have faith in yourself
A little faith goes a long way! Once you have faith in your capabilities you’ll start chasing that dream that you have been pushing off! Believe that that new career will pick up, that new love interest will definitely work out. Don’t be held back by the thought that you might be heartbroken. Lesson that I learnt a bit late but I’m glad I did: don’t be afraid to fall or fail. The difference between winners and losers is that the winners were willing to try again.
• Believe that you deserve nothing but the best
On this one you really need to work on it! The way we are cultured, at times, you feel guilty about having good things. You deserve the good things. Learn to shut that little voice in your head that tells you that you don’t deserve it and instead focus on giving yourself the life you work so hard to live.
• Positivity attracts positivity
When you keep your face to the sunshine, you cannot see the shadows. Having an optimistic attitude never hurt nobody. I mean think about it, what do you have to lose when celebrating the little joys of life instead of focusing on everything that is going wrong? Studies show that negativity can negatively affect both your psychological and physical health. Moral of the story stay positive. Talking of health issues…
• Start eating healthy and maybe hit the gym
Eat a healthy and balanced diet to help you cut that weight that has become worrisome. Refrain from over indulgence in alcoholic beverages and smoking. Let’s face it, if your body doesn’t feel right then you are not likely to achieve the dreams you are chasing. Do yourself a favor and stop procrastinating and making excuses for not going to the gym. Am sure when the year comes to an end you will be happy that you started.
Bonus point, get a savings account and save towards something, anything! Am sure by the time December comes around you will thank the stars. If you love to explore; visit new places, learn a new language, meet new people and most importantly, make love not war!
